Dr. Peter Mitchell Performs Ankle Surgery on Arizona Diamondbacks’ Stephen Drew

Peter Mitchell, MD, performed surgery on Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Stephen Drew to repair torn ligaments sustained during a slide into home plate, according to an MLB report.

Dr. Mitchell performed an “internal plating to the fibula bone” and repair of the torn ligaments. Mr. Drew’s cleats got caught in the ground as he slid into home plate, which caused the injury. He will spend a significant time recovering and rehabilitating from the injury.
