Dr. Peter DeLuca to Perform Knee Surgery on Philadelphia Flyers’ Chris Pronger

Peter DeLuca, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, will perform arthroscopic knee surgery on Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report.

This will be the second knee procedure in as many years for Mr. Pronger, who has been sidelined for several games this season with a virus. According to the report, Mr. Pronger’s knee is structurally sound and has good cartilage, but he will undergo a procedure to remove loose bodies in his knee.

Mr. Pronger is expected to return to play in early 2012.
