Dr. Nikhil Verma to head sports medicine division at Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center

Orthopedic Surgeon Nikhil Verma, MD, was selected to be the director of the Division of Sports Medicine for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center Aug. 2, according to a release.

Dr. Verma will also serve as the fellowship director for sports medicine and oversee the training of five fellows annually. He is currently the professor and director of clinical research for the sports medicine department at Rush.

 

Dr. Verma is succeeding Bernard Bach, MD, who served in both roles for 30 years. Dr. Bach is stepping down from the roles, but will continue to practice at Rush. He will assist Dr. Verma as he transitions.

 

Dr. Verma has received recognitions for his treatment of shoulder, elbow and knee conditions. He performs more than 600 surgical procedures annually and serves as the team physician for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls and for Nazareth Academy in LaGrange Park, Ill.
