Neal ElAttrache, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Cedars Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, will perform the surgery on Mr. Ryu, the report said. It is unclear whether he will need a full UCL reconstruction, known as a Tommy John procedure, or a more minor partial UCL repair.

Regardless of the procedure performed, Mr. Ryu’s chronic ligament injury means his 2022 season is likely over.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
