Here’s what you should know:
1. Mr. Kopech was placed on the team’s disabled list with a torn elbow ligament Sept. 8.
2. Dr. ElAttrache performed the procedure Sept. 18 in Los Angeles. The team said Mr. Kopech’s surgery was successful, but the right-hander rookie will miss all of the 2019 season.
3. Mr. Kopech is expected to make a full recovery by spring training in 2020.
4. Dr. ElAttrache is an orthopedic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. He is the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation board chairman and program director for the Kerlan-Jobe fellowship. He is the president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
5. Dr. ElAttrache is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams. He is also an orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and the PGA Tour.
