Dr. Michael Langworthy Uses Biological Expertise to Treat Military Personnel

Michael Langworthy, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Battle Creek (Mich.) Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Clinic, recently made advancements in the biological approach to joint replacements for patients with arthritis, according to a report in the Battle Creek Enquirer.

The United States military is now interested in Dr. Langworthy’s research because of the high instances of arthritis among veterans. Dr. Langworthy uses biologic treatments, such as placing bone marrow around cracks in a patient’s bone, to promote healing.

Dr. Langworthy recently visited Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., to help treat patients who need joint replacement due to occurrences on the battle field.
