Dr. Lawrence Gulotta named head orthopedist for New York Mets

The New York Mets tapped orthopedic surgeon Lawrence Gulotta, MD, as the team’s head orthopedist.

Dr. Gulotta is chief of the shoulder and elbow division at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery, according to an April 26 news release. He specializes in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. Dr. Gulotta has also worked for football teams, including the New York Guardians and the New York Giants.

He will join Mets medical director David Altchek, MD, and head team physician Kathryn McElheny, MD, in facilitating orthopedic care. Dr. Altchek and Dr. McElheny also practice at HSS.
