Dr. Koco Eaton to operate on Rays pitcher Blake Snell

Koco Eaton, MD, will perform arthroscopic surgery on Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Blake Snell to remove loose bodies in his left elbow July 29, Fox Sports reports.

The team placed Mr. Snell, the reigning American League Cy Young Winner, on the injured list July 22. The Rays believe he’ll return to the mound in September. Mr. Snell dealt with nagging elbow discomfort throughout the season. Once the pain grew more concerning, the team sent him to Dr. Eaton, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Dr. Eaton has been the Rays’ team physician since 1996. He founded Eaton Orthopedics in Tampa Bay, Fla.
