Dr. Kevin Wilk named Redskins medical consultant — 5 highlights

Clinical physical therapist Kevin Wilk was named medical consultant for the Washington Redskins, the team announced Jan. 7.

Five highlights:

1. Dr. Wilk will report to Ryan Vermillion, the Redskins’ head athletic trainer.

2. The team’s goal is to assemble the best athletic training staff in professional sports, Mr. Vermillion said in a press release.

3. Dr. Wilk has worked with professional athletes including Michael Jordan, Drew Brees, Derek Jeter and Eli Manning.

4. Dr. Wilk currently serves as associate clinical director for Champion Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Ala., as well as director of rehabilitation research at the American Sports Medicine Institute.

5. He has worked in professional baseball for nearly three decades, including as a rehabilitation consultant for the Tampa Bay Rays.
