Dr. Joseph Lane Receives Hospital for Special Surgery’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Joseph M. Lane, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the hospital for his work on metabolic bone disease, according to a hospital news release.

Dr. Lane’s research has helped identify a potential link between long-term use of osteoporosis medications and increased risk for some bone fractures. His clinical research focuses on bone and soft tissue tumors, adult spine and hip trauma, spinal surgery and osteoporosis. He has authored more than 300 published articles and chapters.

He is currently the chief of the metabolic bone disease service and medical director of the osteoporosis prevention center at HSS.
