Dr. James Gladstone Teams With Physical Therapist for Youth ACL Tear Prevention Program

James Gladstone, MD, associate professor of orthopedic surgery and co-chief of the division of sports medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, has teamed with a physical therapist to develop a conditioning program with the goal of preventing ACL tears among youth athletes, according to a hospital news report.

There has been a 400 percent increase in youth ACL injuries over the past 10 years, according to research done at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The new program will use high intensity speed and agility drills, cutting, running, jumping and overall strength training to prevent injury.
