Dr. James Andrews to perform knee surgery on Philadelphia 76ers’ Jahlil Okafor: 5 notes

James Andrews, MD, is scheduled to perform knee surgery on Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor, according to a CSN Philly report.

1. Dr. Andrews will repair a small meniscus tear in Mr. Okafor’s right knee.

 

2. It will take Mr. Okafor approximately six weeks to recover fully from the procedure.

 

3. Dr. Andrews is the founder of the Andrews Institute for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla. He is president and chairman of the board of the Andrews Research and Education Foundation dedicated to prevention, education and research at the Andrews Institute.

 

4. He has mentored more than 314 orthopedic and sports medicine fellows as well as 84 primary care sports medicine fellows.

 

5. He is a senior consultant for the Washington Redskins and the orthopedic medical director for the Tampa Bay Rays.
