Dr. James Andrews performs Tommy John surgery on Red Sox prospect

James Andrews, MD, operated on Boston Red Sox pitching prospect Bradley Blalock, an independent sports blogger tweeted March 17, citing the athlete’s Instagram feed.

Mr. Blalock had Tommy John surgery at the Andrews Institute for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla., according to Blogging the Red Sox. 

The 21-year-old pitcher is a right-hander and is ranked by Baseball America as the No. 36 prospect in the Red Sox organization.
