Dr. James Andrews performs elbow surgery on Cleveland Indians’ Nick Hagadone: 5 things to know

James Andrews, MD, performed elbow surgery on Cleveland Indians pitcher Nick Hagadone, according to a USA Today report.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Andrews performed surgery to repair a fracture of the left medial epicondyle of Mr. Hagadone’s elbow.

 

2. Mr. Hagadone is expected to miss six to nine months following the surgery.

 

3. Dr. Andrews is a prominent sports medicine physician and  founding member of Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Ala.

 

4. He is a past president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

 

5. Dr. Andrews is also a senior consultant for the Washington Redskins and orthopedic medical director for the Tampa Bay Rays.
