Dr. Andrews previously performed surgery on Mr. Favre to remove scar tissue and bone this past May, which was deemed a success. However, the ankle was reinjured, and Dr. Andrews advised the best treatment for the injury was rest, not surgery.
Dr. Andrews said Mr. Favre wouldn’t make the injury worse by playing with the injured ankle, according to a Minneapolis Star Tribune report.
