Unlike heroin and other opiate derivatives, buprenorphine does not make the users euphoric and is less likely to cause a lethal overdose by depressing respiration. The drug can be administered by an injection or it can be converted into a compounded form.  According to Dr. Kornfeld, buprenorphine is a generic drug and huge amounts of money can be saved by using it.
