Dr. Gregory Martin performs 1st ConforMIS Hip System implants: 4 things to know

Gregory Martin, MD, performed the first two 3D-designed, primary total hip replacement surgeries in the U.S. using the ConforMIS Hip System at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Fla.

Here are four things to know:

1. The two ConforMIS Hip System surgeries were conducted as part of a limited launch. ConforMIS plans to announce the timing for a complete commercial launch in 2019.

2. The system uses proprietary advanced imaging and design software to create a patient-specific preoperative surgical plan.

3. The global hip joint reconstruction market is projected at more than $7 billion, and approximately 400,000 total hip replacements are performed in the U.S. annually.

4. Dr. Martin is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and the medical director of the Orthopedic Institute at JFK Medical Center. He specializes in arthritis and hip and knee disorders.
