David Porter, MD, performed ankle surgery on Washington Wizards forward Alan Anderson, according to a Washington Post report.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Porter removed a small, bony fragment from Mr. Anderson’s left ankle.

 

2. Mr. Anderson is expected to miss significant time, however, a timetable for his return has not been revealed.

 

3. Dr. Porter provides care at Methodist Sports Medicine in Indianapolis.

 

4. He focuses on ankle arthroscopy, lateral ankle reconstruction, achilles rupture and navicular stress fracture.

 

5. He also won the Team Physician Award in 2013 from the Indiana State Medical Association Commission on Sports Medicine.
