Dr. David Altchek to Perform Shoulder Surgery on Boston Red Sox Pitcher Andrew Bailey

On Wednesday, David Altchek, MD, board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is scheduled to perform shoulder surgery on the Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Andrew Bailey, according to an ESPN Boston report.

Dr. Altchek serves as co-chief of sports medicine and shoulder service at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and the medical director of the New York Mets.

 

The procedure will mark the end of the player’s season.
