Dr. David Altchek Performs Tommy John Surgery on Indians Pitcher Carlos Carrasco

David Altchek, MD, a shoulder surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, recently performed ulnar collateral ligament repair on Cleveland Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco, according to an NBC Sports report.

The Tommy John surgical procedure was performed on Mr. Carrasco’s right elbow. The procedure will keep Mr. Carrasco out of play for the entirety of the 2012 season, which means the earliest he is expected to take the mound again will be 2013.
