Mr. Torrens is a minor league catcher. He suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder and Dr. Altchek performed the corrective procedure at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
The injury will end Mr. Torrens’ season before it even began. He was the ninth-best prospect in the Yankees system, according to Baseball America.
