Dr. Zanotti used PSI, which uses an MRI of the patient’s knee to computer-generate a detailed surgical plan, including customized instrumentation that shows how the new knee should be placed, according to the release.

The PSI procedure also requires less cutting of the tibia or femur bones, which can reduce patient recovery time. “We think it’s another step toward minimally invasive technology that should allow quicker recovery for patients,” Dr. Zanotti said in the release.
