Dr. Claude Moorman performs knee surgery on Ravens center Matt Skura

Claude Moorman III, MD, performed knee surgery on Baltimore Ravens center Matt Skura, which will keep him out for the rest of the season, ESPN reports.

What you should know:

1. Mr. Skura injured his knee Nov. 25. While the injury was originally believed to be a strain, further tests proved it was more serious.

2. Dr. Moorman is an orthopedic surgeon at Charlotte, N.C.-based OrthoCarolina.

3. He earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, completed a residency at Durham, N.C.-based Duke University and completed his fellowship at New York City-based Cornell University Medical Center.
