Dr. Christopher Ahmad diagnoses Yankees’ Gleyber Torres with torn UCL: 4 things to know

Christopher Ahmad, MD, diagnoses N.Y. Yankees’ prospect Gleyber Torres with a torn ulnar collateral ligament , N.Y. Daily News reports.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Mr. Torres will undergo Tommy John surgery at a later date. The Yankees believe he will recover in time for 2018 spring training. 

 

2. After a slide into home plate, Mr. Torres was placed on minor league disabled list with a hyperextended left elbow.

 

3. Dr. Ahmad is the team physician for the Yankees.

 

4. Specializing in ACL knee injuries, meniscus and cartilage injuries, instability and labral tears of the shoulder, rotator cuff pathology and Tommy John surgery, Dr. Ahmad is an orthopedic surgeon at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.
