Dr. Christopher Ahmad to operate on Yankees’ Zack Britton

Christopher Ahmad, MD, will perform a procedure to remove a bone chip from the left elbow of New York Yankees pitcher Zack Britton, the team announced March 9.

Mr. Britton is expected to arrive in New York March 10 and miss at least a month recovering from the procedure, MLB.com reported March 9.

Dr. Ahmad will perform the procedure at New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

He is the head team physician for the Yankees and professor of orthopedic surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Ahmad earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine in New York City and completed residencies at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/CUMC and New York Orthopedic Hospital.
