The patient had rheumatoid arthritis, and Dr. Lauder replaced the wrist joint and several bones in her right hand with a metal and plastic prosthesis. During the procedure, he removed the inflamed tissue and the prosthetic ensures there isn’t bone-to-bone arthritis.

The patient reports experiencing less pain after surgery. The patient was the first in her community to undergo the procedure.
