The study found:
• The estimated mean price for simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty was $43,401.
• The estimated mean price for staged bilateral total knee arthroplasty was $72,233.
• The quality-adjusted life years gained for simultaneous procedures were 9.31.
• The quality-adjusted life years gained for staged procedures were 9.29.
Researchers concluded that simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty is more cost-effective and yields better outcomes than staged bilateral total knee arthroplasty.
