Nine states have already passed laws addressing concussions. The legislation recently introduced to Congress by the House Education and Labor committee would prohibit athletes from recreational and school sports until they have been evaluated and received clearance from a healthcare provider.
The legislation also includes a plan to help students suffering from concussions return to the classroom and scholastic programs to aid those with difficulty recovering.
