Colts team physician Dr. Art Rettig retires after 33 seasons: 4 takeaways

Art Rettig, MD, stepped down as Indianapolis Colts head team physician after serving the team for 33 years, according to 13 WTHR.

1. Dr. Rettig joined the Colts in 1984 when the team relocated to Indianapolis. He stepped down as head team physician before the 2017 season.

 

2. Dr. Rettig will continue serving the Colts as emeritus associate team physician. Tom Klootwyk, MD, took over as head team physician.

 

3. Throughout his time with the Colts, Dr. Rettig performed surgery on more than 50 players.

 

4. Dr. Rettig is now pursuing his private orthopedic practice at Methodist Sports Medicine Center in Indianapolis.
