Here are four things to know about the physicians and sports medicine practice:
1. Both Dr. Schafer and Dr. Valadie are sports medicine physicians to the Pittsburgh Pirates and United States Soccer Team. This is also the third year both have been named to Castle Connolly’s list.
2. Dr. Schafer received his medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopy at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala.
3. Dr. Valadie received his medical degree from the University of Florida and completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedics Clinic.
4. Coastal Orthopedics is comprised of 16 orthopedic surgeons, all with subspecialty training in sports medicine.
