CMS Pays $738M in February for Medicaid, Medicare EHR Incentive Program

CMS has announced data totals from February 2012 on payments and participation for eligible hospitals, eligible professionals and critical access hospitals under the Medicare and Medicaid electronic health record incentive programs.

The program-to-date totals include:

  • Over 211,500 EPs, eligible hospitals and CAHs have registered for the incentive programs since January 2011;
  • Over 62,000 EPs, eligible hospitals and CAHs have received payments for participating in the incentive programs, totaling $3.8 billion.

Totals for the month of February alone include:

  • Over 20,000 EPs, eligible hospitals and CAHs registered;
  • Over $738 million was paid in incentive payments.
