The Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Incentive Program uses a combination of incentive payments and payment adjustments to encourage electronic prescribing by eligible professionals.
Key highlights from the report include:
• In 2011, 280,229 eligible professionals participated individually in PQRS.
• CMS paid a total of $261 million in PQRS incentive payments in 2011.
• In 2011, 282,382 eligible professionals participated in the eRx Incentive Program, which is a 116 percent increase from the total number of participants in 2010.
• CMS paid a total of $285 million in eRx incentive payments in 2011.
