Additional partners associated with boxing include Nevada Athletic Commission, Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank Boxing. The study plans to enroll 625 boxers and mixed martial artists. Previous studies indicate that 20-50 percent of professional fighters develop brain conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Researchers will measure brain scans of the fighters once every four years to measure brain volume, blood flow and tissue scarring. The fighters will also undergo memory tests and cognitive and neurological assessments.
