Four things to know:
1. Cleveland Clinic Sports Health will provide medical professionals with research data and students will receive specialized care.
2. Akron Esports began as a varsity sport at the university last fall. It has 40 esports athletes and 800 participants in clubs and recreational tournaments.
3. Dominic King, DO, director of the esports medicine program at CCSH, will serve as the medical consultant for Akron Esports.
4. Dr. King will provide neurocognitive and gaming ergonomic evaluations and educate the esports athletes about fitness, nutrition, training and psychology.
