Celebrated Sports Medicine Physician Dr. Frank McCue Dies

Frank C. McCue, III, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician at the University of Virginia, has passed away, according to a Richmond Times-Dispatch report.

Dr. McCue completed his medical education and residency at the University of Virginia. Following a hand surgery fellowship in California, Dr. McCue was appointed a professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Virginia. He was later named the director of the school’s Division of Sports Medicine and Hand Surgery.

The university dedicated its athletic administration building the McCue Center to Dr. McCue in 1991. Two years later, Dr. McCue retired and become professor emeritus of orthopedics at the university.
