Virginia-based Carilion Clinic has offered to sell two outpatient centers it acquired last year following an antitrust complaint by the Federal Trade Commission stating that the acquisition eliminated Carilion’s competition in the area, according to a report by the Roanoke Times.

Carilion purchased the Center for Advanced Imagining and the Center for Surgical Excellence last year for $20 million. According to the FTC complaint, the purchase of the centers from Odyssey Imaging reduced competition in the area and increased healthcare prices by as much as 900 percent.

The FTC and Carilion filed a joint motion to remove the case from adjudication for 30 days so that a settlement can be reached. Carilion offered to sell the centers to a buyer approved by the FTC as part of the settlement. Odyssey will consider buying back the two centers, according to the report.
