The bill is aimed at helping authorities identify physicians who may be harming patients through inappropriately prescribing prescription drugs.
Sen. Price believes there is a disconnect between coroners and the medical board. He hopes the bill will tighten accountability.
Nearly half of all accidental deaths from prescription drugs in Southern California occur to patients with a physician’s prescription to be taking at least one of the drugs contributing to death. Often, these deaths also involved multiple drugs prescribed by more than one physician.
