Here are five details:
1. The new sports medicine center, which is the first of its kind in San Diego county, will provide services to the school district’s more than 15,000 student athletes.
2. Sweetwater District’s partners on the project include Southwest Sports Wellness Foundation, UC San Diego, San Diego State University and Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista.
3. In addition to providing financial support, Dr. Camarata has organized a free Saturday morning injury clinic for student athletes in the Sweetwater District for more than 25 years.
4. In 2011, Dr. Camarata established the school district’s Sports Medicine Career Technical Education courses in 11 high schools.
5. In addition to his sports medicine practice, Dr. Camarata also serves as a volunteer sports medicine instructor at UC San Diego Medical School.
