Blessing Hospital in Illinois Launches Efforts to Stop Prescription Drug Abuse

Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., has launched efforts to curb prescription drug abuse, according to a report from the Quincy Journal.

Richard Saalborn, DO, medical director of Blessing Hospital Emergency Center, is leading the efforts, which include signing a pain contract between patients and physicians that can be submitted to the emergency room if patients visit to fill a prescription. The hospitals will also post rules about pain medication in the emergency center.
