Leslie Geddes, PhD, a former bioengineering professor at Purdue University who is credited with more than 30 patents for biomedical devices, has died at age 88, according to a release from Purdue.
He invented material derived from hogs’ small intestines that promotes new tissue growth, which has been used in more than 200,000 patients for soft tissue repair and orthopedics.
Dr. Geddes received the National Medal of Technology from President George W. Bush in 2007.
