The process is called “day rehab” and aims to restore patient mobility more quickly while cutting the cost of joint rehabilitation by half or more.
Day rehab combines the key features of rehab in a hospital with visiting a physical therapist. The goal is to get patients moving and back to their lives more quickly while letting them live at home.
The therapy study, to be released in September, will show the average cost day rehab after knee replacement was $1,860, compared with $4,914 for inpatient nursing home rehab.
