Here are four takeaways:

1. The 90,000 square foot facility is the first in the NBA to co-locate a comprehensive sports medicine center that allows immediate treatment and diagnosis.

2. Emory will use 30,000 square feet to provide preventative and rehabilitation treatment and sports performance training.

3. Current surgeons and specialists at Emory’s Sports Medicine Center relocated to the Brookhaven center permanently. All non-orthopedic specialties will remain at the current location.

4. The new center was privately funded and will serve as the Hawks official practice site. Emory is the official health provider to the Hawks.
