AOSSM names Dr. Annunziato Amendola president: 6 takeaways

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine named Annunziato Amendola, MD, its 45th president.

1. Dr. Amendola is vice chair of the orthopedic surgery department and chief of the sports medicine division at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

 

2. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Arthroscopy Association of North America.

 

3. He has won a number of AOSSM awards, including the Excellence in Research Award. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles.

 

4. He has served as editor of three textbooks on orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopy.

 

5. Dr. Amendola has completed fellowships at the University Hospital Western Ontario in Canada; the University of Verona in Italy; and the Crystal Clinic in Akron, Ohio.
