Andrews Research & Education Foundation names Ashton Hayward president: 5 notes

Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute Research & Education Foundation appointed Ashton Hayward, III, as its new president.

Here are five things to know:

1. Andrews Research & Education Foundation is within the network of Gulf Breeze-based Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, of which orthopedic surgeon James Andrews, MD, is a founding partner.

2. Mr. Hayward recently finished serving two terms as mayor of Pensacola, Fla. His appointment as AREF president will become effective in January 2019.

3. As mayor, Mr. Hayward managed a city staff of nearly 800 team members and a budget of more than $200 million.

4. “[Mr.] Hayward’s visionary leadership and result-oriented mindset will help AREF continue to advance the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and enhance human performance and quality of life for people of all ages,” Dr. Andrews said.

5. Dr. Andrews is a founding partner and the president of the AREF Board.
