The award recognizes orthopedic surgeons who have demonstrated excellence in sports medicine at a local level.
Dr. DeLee estimates that he has provided medical coverage for more than 800 high school football games since he completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1975.
For the past 30 years he has operated as a clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the university.
In 2017, Dr. DeLee was inducted into the AAOSM’s Hall of Fame — the highest honor awarded by the organization.
