The Overseas Outreach Project to Vietnam is supported by a grant from the AOFAS Outreach and Education Fund and partners with Prosthetic Outreach Foundation, which provides free prosthetic limbs for Vietnamese amputees. Surgeons with AOFAS also offer corrective surgery for patients who suffer from lower limb deformities and disabilities from diseases such as polio and cerebral palsy.
Over the past 10 years, volunteer surgeons have worked with more than 2,000 Vietnamese patients in the clinics, with more than 700 receiving surgical treatment, according to the report.
