On June 1, the FTC plans to extend its “red flags rule” for banks, credit card companies and mortgage lenders to medical practices and allow patients to make payments after a service.
The AMA, in a lawsuit joined by the American Osteopathic Association and the Medical Society of the District of Columbia, says the paperwork practices would have to file to satisfy the rule is unnecessary.
