According to the letter, the Alliance said it appreciated the new exemption categories that would prevent specialty physicians from being penalized for not meeting reporting criteria under certain circumstances. However, it also suggested that CMS revise the 2012 penalty criteria and give specialty physicians more time to pursue and integrate the proper health information technology to meet the quality e-prescribing goals.
