UAB Sports Medicine became a club-level sponsor of Hoover-Vestavia Soccer, a collaboration between Vestavia Hills Soccer Club and Hoover Soccer Club.

Mike Getman, a longtime head coach for The University of Alabama at Birmingham, is director of coaching for Hoover-Vestavia Soccer. Seventeen teams are signed up to participate in the program’s first season.

UAB Sports Medicine’s affiliation with Hoover-Vestavia Soccer “helps to open the door to the full range of services from UAB Medicine, including orthopedics, sports medicine and more,” said Amit Momaya, MD, sports medicine section chief in UAB’s orthopedic surgery department.

UAB Sports Medicine has a team of two orthopedic surgeons and three sports medicine physicians.
