AAOS has been working with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery to reduce the number of medical errors made by orthopedic surgeons. Over a period of 12 years, the ABOS have collected more than one million orthopedic surgeries, and only 71 of them included wrong-site surgery, according to the report.

The AAOS suggests physicians join the “Sign Your Site” campaign to lower the risk of surgical errors in the operating room.
